Knowledge, Attitude and Willingness to Participate in Gamete Donation for Artificial Insemination among Undergraduate Students in Lagos

Background: Infertility affects one-fifth to one-sixth of couples reproductive age. Gamete donation is one option for managing infertility, but it relatively unknown in the developing world. Objectives: To assess Nigerian undergraduate students' knowledge, attitude and willingness participate gamete artificial insemination. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted among 160 students using a semi-structured self-administered questionnaire. The respondents were recruited multi-stage sampling technique. Results: mean age 21.5±3.2 years, with range 18-32 years. majority (89.4%) single first year (56.3%). Almost all (96.3%) had heard about practice donation, only (38.7%) overall good knowledge it. half (46.9%) an positive towards while 37.5% willing participate. class level (p = 0.03) significantly associated poor 0.01) gender < 0.001) negative attitude. Age (p<0.001) also Conclusion: respondents' awareness high, their poor, leading Public enlightenment on insemination should be intensified.
